Mumdance returns with new two-tracker, ‘In Love Again / Five Years’: Listen
The release signals "a new wave of happier, more optimistic productions" from the London artist
Mumdance has released a new two-tracker, ‘In Love Again / Five Years’. Listen to it below.
Out now via his own MD Dubs label, the release is a follow up to 'MD001', which landed at the end of 2022 and marked his first new release in four years. In the same year, he also shared a vast archive of past releases, mixes and other material from across his career to that point.
The release is described as "signalling a new wave of happier, more optimistic productions" from the London artist. 'In Love Again' incorporates elements of Brazilian funk and Latin freestyle into his trademark experimental framework within UK hardcore continuum. Its title is a direct reference to his "feeling back in love with music again" after a challenging few years.
'Five Years' is a "joyous" banger that is partly inspired by the works of Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter, and features a guitar solo amidst it's pounding drums and vocal chops. The track is named as a marker of Mumdance's fifth year of sobriety.
Last year, Mumdance appeared alongside Nkisi, Emeralds, and more at Portugal’s SEMIBREVE festival, in which he played a "durational" DJ set comprising techno, grime, and avant-garde beat. You can revisit DJ Mag's 2018 cover interview with Mumdance here.
