Michael Bibi returned to the festival stage this past weekend with a headline set at Coachella 2024.

The English DJ and producer headlined the festival’s brand new Quasar stage on Saturday, marking his first official set since being declared cancer free in December. He was joined on stage by his close friends and family, as he powered through a two-hour sunset set.

“One year ago I had a tumour found in the centre of my brain, today I’m finally preparing to go back to doing what I love & have missed so much...” Bibi shared in an emotional post on Instagram.

“I don’t think I could have done any of this without all of your support & energy, I thankyou all from the bottom of my heart & now I’m ready to give some of that back through playing music... it doesn’t quite feel real but I think it’s actually happening!”

Almost exactly one year ago, Bibi (aged 33) was diagnosed with CNS Lymphoma, a rare form of brain and spinal cancer. After six months of treatment, the Solid Grooves boss announced he was in remission at the end of 2023, with his post-cancer treatment scan results in March also returning “all clear.”

The new stage, hosted by Coachella’s promoter Goldenvoice, featured a selection of “longer format DJ sets” across the festival’s first weekend (12th-14th April), including Honey Dijon b2b Green Velvet, CarlitaJamie xxFloating Points, and Daphni.

On weekend two (19th-21st April), the Quasar stage – which is located where the old Sahara tent used to be – will welcome RÜFÜS DU SOLEric Prydz b2b Anyma, and Diplo b2b Mau P.

Following his Coachella performance, Bibi will be embarking on his “One Life” World Tour which kicks off this Summer. Billed as a “celebration of life, music, and the human spirit”, the tour will include a huge show at Finsbury Park in July, from which partial proceeds are to be donated to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
