Detroit legends reinterpret 1969 track, ‘Music for My Mother’
Funkadelic have influenced an endless stream of musicians, with Underground Resistance the latest act to show their appreaction for George Clinton’s pioneering funk band.
As part of a new remix compilation album, UR have remixed ‘Music For My Mother’ which has been described in the accompanying press release as sounding like “a hundred years of great American music”. The remix comes as part of a heavyweight release, ‘Funkadelic - Reworked by Detroiters’ that also features remixes from Moodymann, Marcellus Pittman, Andres, Anthony ’Shake’ Shakir and more.
Interestingly, Underground Resistance leader Mike Banks played guitar for the band’s sister act, P-Funk, in the ‘80s.
