A new label specialising in Irish underground club music, Ar Ais Arís, will release its debut compilation next week.

Launched by the crew behind the Galway-based party of the same name, Ar Ais Arís will provide a platform for emerging artists producing a variety of styles, from dubstep, breaks and leftfield bass to hard drum, jungle and garage. The label’s first release comprises five tracks from “producers associated with Ireland's bass music underground and the AAA club night itself”. These include Flood co-founder Doubt, Club Comfort’s Roo Honeychild, cloudcore-club innovator Sloucho and Leipzig-based, Galway-born Free House co-founder Luke Kiid.

The EP also features a buzzing four-to-the-floor stomper from Dublin’s Plus One, complete with an infectious vocal flip. You can listen to that below ahead of the compilation’s full release on 5th April. Pre-order it here.

Since launching in Galway’s Irish language venue, Club Áras na nGael, in late 2022, Ar Ais Arís – a popular phrase in Irish music meaning “Back Again” – has become a “welcoming space for counter-culture expression while prioritising inclusivity, diversity, and safety”. In the year and a half since, it has hosted sets from international artists including Sully, Breaka and Denham Audio as well as a wide array of Irish DJs including Woozy’s EMA, Efa O’Neill and R.Kitt.

Speaking about the launch of the label, co-founder Rob Flynn, who is also the co-founder of Rua Sound, said: "The bass music scene in Ireland, and in Galway in particular, has been really going off since COVID with a lot of great producers really finding their voice. With the label, we wanna pull the best of that together into one platform and showcase it to the world.”

Hannah Hession, fellow co-founder alongside Alannah Dunford and Robin Clancy, added: “We want the label to reflect the sound we have curated for the night itself – the artists on this first release have all played at Ar Ais Arís and they really capture the high energy we strive for in our nights. We’re so lucky to have such talented DJs/producers on this compilation and playing our nights. This wouldn’t be possible without the talent and enthusiasm they have to offer".
