Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard have announced they will be performing a DJ set in Hackney on 14th September, in aid of Youth Music.

The show, taking place at the Oslo venue, will form part of the charity’s Give a Gig campaign which brings together artists, fans and local communities across the country to raise crucial funds for grassroots music projects.

Youth Music believes that every young person should have the chance to change their life through music, and has been supporting underprivileged individuals and projects through fundraising, music programmes, residencies, summer schools, and workshops since 1999.

The announcement follows the release of Hot Chip’s brand new single, ‘Fire of Mercy’, featuring Malaysian-Irish producer and songwriter Yunè Pinku. The track — described as delivering an “emotional gut punch” — marked the group’s first new music since their 2022 album, ‘Freakout/Release’.

Later this year, Hot Chip will perform at DRUMSHEDS, the brand new 15,000-capacity venue from the team behind Printworks. The group will take to the decks as part of a Bugged Out! takeover, alongside the likes of Orbital, Basement Jaxx, DJ Paulette, Erol Alkan, Cassius, and more. Also performing across DRUMSHEDS’ debut AW23 season are recent DJ Mag cover stars, Major League DJz, Camelphat, Charlotte De Witte, Gorgon City, Armand Van Helden, Derrick Carter, and many more.

Electronic music titans Bicep were also appointed as Ambassadors for Youth Music in 2019, following their continued support for the charity. The duo have since raised just under £20,000 for Youth Music through guest list donations at their gigs.
