Glasgow club The Art School goes into liquidation
Over 30 staff have lost their jobs
The Art School, one of Glasgow's leading venues for electronic music, has gone into liquidation.
32 staff, who have been on zero hours contracts since November, have lost their jobs with immediate effect.
The venue has been suffering from financial issues for months; back in November the club was forced to suspend its programming, and a month prior, staff had protested as they became aware their jobs were under threat.
Today an order was granted by Glasgow Sherriff Court to appoint Shona Campbell of MHA Henderson Loggie as the company's liquidator.
As a separate entity to The Art School, Glasgow School of Art is not affected by the liquidation.
The Art School first opened back in 1927, and the space has long-since been a stalwart amidst Glasgow's bright live and electronic music scenes. Despite not even running for the full year, in 2019 alone the club played host to the likes of SOPHIE, Sherelle, LSDXOXO, Manara, LOFT and Swing Ting.
The loss of The Art School will be a significant blow to Glasgow's music scene.

Glasgow gained a new radio station this month. Clyde Built Radio, broadcasting out of the Barras Market, is named after Andrew Thomson's 'Clyde Built' compilations, which showcase the Glasgow music scene.
