Dubstep producer Christine Clements, aka Vaccine, dies, aged 43

Christine Clements, also known as dubstep producer Vaccine, has died at age 43.

Her husband James Clements, the UK producer ASC, shared the news of her passing on Instagram on 25th August. "It's with immense sadness that I announce the death of my beautiful wife, Christine", he wrote. "She passed away in the early hours of August 22nd, after being admitted to hospital on the 16th for a sudden downturn in health."

"Many of you know her for the music which she released under the name Vaccine", he added. "I know she touched a lot of people's hearts and minds with her delicate and emotional approach to dubstep and autonomic."

California-born Vaccine began releasing music in 2007 on Scuba's Hotflush Recordings and started her own namesake label in 2008. She was known for her ambient-and IDM-leaning sound and being one of the few prominent women producers and DJs on the early dubstep scene. She also released singles on Offshore Recordings and Nonplus Records, with her last solo EP in 2014, 'Decryption' for Auxillary Transmissions. Later in her music career, she composed music for video games.
