DMC World Championships announce Mix Master Mike and Dilated Peoples for finals

The team behind the DMC World Championships have shared full details of this year's DMC World DJ Final.

Taking place at The Midway in San Francisco, California on Friday, 3rd November, the event will take in guest performances from legendary turntablist and DJ figures such as Mix Master Mike and Dilated Peoples (pictured). The former previously won two DMC World titles as part of the Rock Steady DJs and The Dream Team.

Scratch Perverts' Prime Cuts and Japan's DJ Kentaro will also perform guest sets at the event, in addition to the US West Coast turntablist crew Invisibl Skratch Piklz, consisting of Shortkut, DJ Qbert and D-Styles.

This year marks the first time that the DMC World DJ Final has taken place in San Francisco, and world champions K-Swizz, from New Zealand, and DJ Topic, from France, will be defending their titles.

Dan Prince, Director at DMC, said: We are so excited to bring the World Finals to San Francisco this year! My first experience of a Final was seeing Chad Jackson crowned the world's best in 1987 at the Royal Albert Hall when James Brown, Run DMC and Roxanne Shanté were also on the bill. Friday, November 3rd  at The Midway promises to be the greatest night in DMC turntable history!"

Tickets for the event are available via The Midway's website.

Last month, Cwmbran DJ Huw Wackman — real name Miaer Lloyd — won Technics' fabled DMC UK championship after 36 years of trying. In 2022, a 10-year-old turntablist, under the name DJ Michelle, entered into the World Portablist Championship category at the DMC World Championships.
