Birmingham’s Kaylee Golding is set to host BBC 1Xtra’s first regular weekday broadcast outside London. The Brum-raised DJ will host her show every Monday to Friday from 13:00-16:00 GMT beginning 3rd April.

"I am super excited to be joining the BBC 1Xtra family! I've been listening to 1Xtra my whole life," she told the BBC. "To make it even better, I get to do the show from my home town Birmingham. Birmingham deserves this, and I can't wait to bring some Brummy flavour to 1Xtra!"

Golding was nominated for the Best Presenter gong at the UK Entertainment Awards 2021 and has contributed guest mixes to Capital XTRA, BBC 1XTRA and more. She currently hosts a bi-weekly show on Reprezent radio

Earlier this year, BBC Radio 1Xtra launched a weekly show dedicated to showcasing Black dance music culture. Presented by Jeremiah Asiamah, the show will air on 1Xtra every Friday from 7pm until 9pm. It will cover genres such as amapiano, UK garage, house, jungle and drum & bass.

In 2020, Golding wrote this piece for DJ Mag exploring the diversity-focused Radio Silence movement and lack of Black representation in mainstream UK radio. That same year, she launched her podcast On Your Gaydar. Representing who you are is at the heart of all of Kaylee's work.
