Previously a karate dojo, dry cleaners and gambling den, Corsica Studios' current incarnation is the one that's made it famous among London's most clued-up clubbers.

Two snug-but-spacious rooms — with another used occasionally (The Columbian) — fitted with a series of expertly tuned Funktion One stacks, this raw, stripped-back maze of dance revelry is best known for its dedication to the edgier, more classy electronic styles.

Trouble Vision and Tief are its flagships, loved for their focus on house, techno and disco greats old and new — from Maurice Fulton to Manpower. Elsewhere bass, techno and glitz all get a look in, with Jaded entertaining the after-hours rabble on a Sunday.

The grimy, more underground foil to nearby neighbour Ministry of Sound, just a stone's throw away over Elephant & Castle's humongous old roundabout, Corsica Studios is one for the heads.
