Studio 80

Established in recent years as one of the Dutch capital's best clubs, Studio 80 decided to switch up their vibe in 2014. Whereas their line-ups previously erred towards tech house, lately they've ploughed a more underground furrow.

Hooking up with some of the best record labels in dance, Aus Music regularly occupies the club with residents Will Saul and Tom Demac, while Creme Organisation, R&S, SlapFunk and White Material are some of the other cool crews involved. New club night Year of the Horse is also notable for its audio-visual flavour, adding some cornea coruscating imagery to enhance the forward-thinking electronica that is its staple diet.

It's not just the music policy that's changed. Their website and artwork have had an overhaul, while inside the venue itself, they've stripped away most of the lighting to create a darker space that draws the sound rather than the visuals into relief. They've installed a rare, 20-year-old A&H Rotary V6 mixer, and are investing more time into their Studio 80 radio station. Sounds like they're on the right track to us.
