Having helped sow the seeds of Croatia’s now-much-vaunted electronic music scene as the Balkan state’s first beach club, it’s little wonder that our readers have again decided to pay homage to Kalypso. The granddaddy of Zrce nightlife has continued to impress in 2019; situated on the picturesque coastline of Pag, the palm tree-flanked venue remains one of the world’s most photogenic spaces.

Though having grown into one of the world’s largest clubs, it’s successfully managed to retain the key elements that made the club so special when it first opened its doors back in 1987. Today it’s probably best known as the location of a number of Europe’s most-celebrated festivals, with the likes of Hideout, Sonus and Barrakud all calling Kalypso home over the summer months.

Boasting a frankly ridiculous 12 bars over two floors, and separate stages for day and night to entertain its guests no matter the hour, the club also offers a number of more chilled VIP areas for those suffering from sensory overload to peel off to if the intensity ever becomes a little too much. 2019 saw the likes of Bicep, Seth Troxler, Rødhåd, Ricardo Villalobos, Dixon, and Ben Klock all strut their stuff at Kalypso; so no matter your vibe, we can pretty much guarantee that this storied institution will keep you entertained.
