The Weeknd releases new album featuring Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris, Oneohtrix Point Never: Listen

The artist has dubbed the record a  “a new sonic universe”

The Weeknd has released his new album, ‘Dawn FM’, just days after announcing its impending arrival.

The artist’s fifth album, which he described as “a new sonic universe” in a teaser trailer on Instagram, includes the single ‘Take My Breath’, which was released in August last year. A video for the fifth track, ‘Sacrifice’, also premiered on the album’s release last Friday (7th January).

Following successful past collabs with the likes of Beyoncé and Drake, the new album features contributions from a host of big names including Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Quincy Jones, and actor Jim Carrey, who narrates a soliloquy on the closing track ‘Phantom Regret by Jim’.

Much of the record was co-produced by experimental electronic musician Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never, alongside producers Max Martin and Oscar Holter, along with The Weeknd himself.

The track’s ‘How Do I Make You Love Me’ and ‘Sacrifice’ feature Swedish House Mafia. The Weeknd is no stranger to working with the Swedish EDM trio, after previously collaborating on their single 'Moth To A Flame' last year. Elsewhere, ‘I Heard You’re Married [ft. Lil Wayne]’ features guest production from Calvin Harris.

The Weeknd also recently featured on FKA Twigs’ track ‘Tears In The Club’, which will appear  on her new mixtape, ‘CAPRISONGS’ and Rosalía's latest single 'LA FAMA'

The Canadian artist’s tour, titled After hours til dawn, is set to commence in the summer.
