Underworld to re-release classic album, 'Beaucoup Fish’

And includes unreleased versions of anthems like Push Upstairs, Jumbo, and Bruce Lee, plus two discs of remixes...

Underworld will re-release classic album, ‘Beaucoup Fish’ later this month, with a black plastic re-issue and new deluxe CD edition ready to land, introducing a new generation to some of the band’s finest work.

When the long-player first dropped in 1999 it answered many questions, not least how Karl Hyde and Rick Smith- founding fathers of Underworld- could ever match their previous effort, ‘Second Toughest In The Infants’, which included work such as ‘Pearl’s Girl’ and ‘Born Slippy’. Produced under the working title ‘Tonight Matthew, I’m Going To Be Underworld’, ‘Beaucoup’ would go on to be the band’s best selling album to date.

Featuring the singles ‘Push Upstairs’, ‘Jumbo’, and ‘Shudder/King of Snake’- AKA That Frantic Tune About Tom & Jerry- it was the final record produced with Darren Emerson, who departed in 2001. It’s also widely regarded as the last of the troupe’s three most important LPs, after the aforementioned ‘Second Toughest’ and predecessor ‘Dubnobasswithmyheadman’, both of which have already received the reissue treatment.

The new deluxe version runs over a sprawling four CDs, with a vinyl version of the original album also being re-released. The special edition includes the record in its entirely, one disc of unreleased alternatives and outtakes, and a further two boasting some of the finest remixes of the material, name checking the likes of Adam Beyer, Dave Clarke, Fatboy Slim, DJ Hype & Zinc, Dave Angel, Francois Kevorkian, and the Micronauts, whose take on ‘Bruce Lee’ we’ve embedded below. Underworld were nominees in both DJ Mag’s Best of British 2016 and 2017’s Grammy Awards.
