Tash LC launches new label, Club Yeke

The first release is out now

Tash LC has announced her new label, Club Yeke.

The DJ and BBC Radio 1 resident, who played the More Time Records showcase at this year's Glastonbury festival, has introduced the Club Yeke imprint to her events and mix series with a seven-track EP.

Courtesy of London born, South Africa-based electronic and gqom purveyor Jumping Back Slash, the EP, 'Animals', takes the listener on a journey through "jungles, forests, and savannahs, exploring the brutality and beauty of wildlife".

Featuring five original productions and two collaborations, Lesotho Shepherd poet Morena Leraba spits his inimiatable style of rap-poetry on 'Tsemedi' and 'Mantlapa En Litsiroane'.

"I wanted to make a record that felt like a dream in a jungle" Jumping Back Slash said of the EP, "A little psychedelic and connected to myths. I wanted it to feel like the end of ‘Apocalypse Now'. Nature reclaiming our houses, people receding into the trees. Surrounded by animals.”

'Animals' is out now, with future releases on Club Yeke promising "the most innovative and exciting underground electronic sounds, from the African Diaspora, via the Caribbean, Latin America, the UK and beyond."
