Suge Knight has refused to testify in the Tupac Shakur murder trial.

The Death Row Records co-founder and former head told TMZ that he won't assist prosecutors in the trial to convict Duane "Keffe D" Davis for the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur. The news comes a week after Davis was arrested and charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon in connection to the 1996 fatal shooting of the legendary rapper.

"I’m not gonna get on the stand and testify against somebody,” Knight told TMZ founder Harvey Levin. “For what?” He added, “I wouldn’t go, I wouldn’t testify. None of that shit."

In the TMZ exclusive, Knight - who was also shot in the BMW with Shakur on the night - added that he was surprised that there has finally been arrest in the murder. He also mentioned his history with Davis, noting that the two had played football together and that despite their history, he wouldn't wish imprisonment "on my worst enemy."

According to a report by Complex, Knight was asked about the rumoured involvement of Davis' late nephew Orlando Anderson, to which he replied: "I never had nothing bad to say about Orlando because he wasn't the shooter."

According to TMZ, Knight and 60-year-old Keffe D are the only two people involved in the incident who are still alive. The investigation into Shakur's death in a Las Vegas drive-by shooting has continued for decades with a number of leads ultimately leading to dead-ends.

The development comes just months after Davis' wife's home, in Henderson, Nevada, was searched by police in relation to the investigation into Shakur's murder.

The suspect has long been known to investigators, having previously admitted in interviews and in his 2019 memoir, 'Compton Street Legend', that he was in the Cadillac from which Shakur was shot at the time of the shooting. He is now the first person to be arrested in direct connection with the killing, with police saying that three other suspects in the murder are all now deceased.

On 26th October, the first and only estate-authorised biography of Tupac Shakur will be published.
