Stormzy, Dave, FKA twigs, AJ Tracey, nominated for BRIT Awards

The nominations list has come under criticism for the lack of women recognised

The nominations for this year's BRIT Awards have been announced, with Dave and Stormzy leading the list at four and three nominations respectively.

Both are nominated in the Male Solo Artist category, Album of the Year category (Dave for 'Psychodrama' and Stormzy for 'Heavy is the Head) and Song of the Year category (Dave for the Burna Boy-featuring 'Location' and Stormzy for 'Vossi Bop). Dave is also nominated for Best New Artist.

Elsewhere on the nominations list, AJ Tracey is up for Song of the Year for 'Ladbroke Grove', while Calvin Harris is also nominated in the same category for the Rag'n'Bone Man-featuring 'Giant'.

FKA twigs, Charli XCX and Mabel feature amongst the Female Solo Artist nominees, and Mabel also features in the Best New Artist category.

The nominations list has come under some criticism, however, chiefly due to the lack of women recognised. Outside of the British and International categories for Female Solo Artist, only one woman (Mabel) is nominated for Best New Artist, no women feature in any of the bands nominated for Best New Group or in the Album of the Year list.

The BRITs will take place at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday, February 18th and will air live on ITV.

BRIT nominee Stormzy was recently embroiled in a grime beef with Wiley which saw the pair exchange a number of diss tracks. He'll be heading out on a 55-date world tour in support of latest album 'Heavy is the Head' over the course of this year.
