SLIMZEE RETURNS TO RINSE FM

One of the station’s founders is welcomed back into the fold after a decade away.

Slimzee has returned to Rinse FM with a new radio show airing twice a month.

The east London DJ co-founded Rinse FM in 1994 together with Geeneus and Uncle Dugs, running the station for three years from his own bedroom. His Sunday grime show offered a platform to many of the genre's pioneers.

In 2005, Slimzee was hit with an ASBO after Ofcom disconnected his Rinse FM radio receiver. The order banned him from rooftops in Tower Hamlets and brought his regular slot on Rinse to an end.

He returned to the radio in 2014 with fortnightly show Slimzos Sessions on NTS which has seen MCs from both old and new schools — such as Riko Dan, Novelist, Jammz, Trim and AJ Tracey — join him in the studio.

Slimzee’s Rinse FM show starts tomorrow, airing on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.
