The Ransom Note to open East London record shop in December

The online mag launches a physical retailer...

The Ransom Note is set to unveil a record shop on Saturday 2nd December in East London’s Forest Gate neighbourhood. The physical retail location is being launched in partnership with dance music journalist Aiden d'Araujo.

The Ransom Note premiered late last decade as a digital magazine and hub for “acid house-obsessed” musings on music, film, books art and culture. d'Araujo has been a contributor since 2014.

According to the site, the shop will be “[s]ituated in a brand new railway arch space in Forest Gate, the shop will also be home to resident Turntable Technician Neil Macey, the man for all your deck surgery needs.” The shop’s supply will be primarily second-hand titles across “House, Techno, Hi-NRG, Italo, New Wave, Synth, Boogie, Disco, Funk and Soul.”

A launch party will commence at noon local time on 2nd December. Ransom Note Records can be found at Arch 432 Avenue Road, Wanstead Park, E7 0JH.

While the UK can now claim one additional record shop, the region still lags far being the United States in the total number of record shops. As previously reported, Sainsbury’s recently entered into the record business as well.
