A pensioner’s D&B collection and turntables have been confiscated by authorities

The OAP dance music takeover continues...

An OAP in Folkestone, Kent has had his D&B collection and turntables confiscated by authorities after ignoring repeated warnings from Shepway District Council.

Peter Tuppen, who is believed to be in his early 70s, was served a Noise Abatement Notice after numerous complaints from neighbours over excessively loud music.

After ignoring the warning, environment protection officers were forced to moved in, with more than 300 CDs, as well as Tuppen’s turntable and stereo equipment, being confiscated from his home, which was said to be “wired like a nightclub”.

A council spokesman told Kent Online, “We all love to enjoy our favourite music in our own home, and it’s great that most people will do that with no problem. But when one person’s loud music makes neighbours’ lives a living hell the council has no alternative than to step in.

"The level and frequency of the noise in this case caused a completely unacceptable intrusion into the lives of other residents of Stephen Court.”

Tuppen’s D&B dilemma is the second instance of dance music loving pensioners, after DJ Sumirock — aka Sumiko Iwamuro — the 82-year-old Japanese woman that cooks dumplings by day and DJs by night.
