New Afrobeats and amapiano documentary, A Movement, released by Afro Nation: Watch

A new Afrobeats and amapiano documentary is available to watch now via Afro Nation festival.

Afro Nation: A Movement features talking heads such as Burna Boy and Ayra Starr — who are both set to play Glastonbury's Pyramid stage this year — and explores the mainstream rise of Afrobeats along with the launch of the Portuguese festival and formation of the Afrobeats Charts.

The short film was shot during Afro Nation Portugal 2023 and features exclusive footage and interviews with the festival's founders. It also shines a light on the amapiano phenomenon with the help of interviewees Musa Keys, “Dancing Queen” Kamo Mphela and rising star Skyla Tylaa.

The documentary also features interviews with Afrobeats historian Adesope "Shopsydoo" Olajide, comedian and host of the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show BBC 1Xtra Eddie Kadi, Afro Nation co-founder SMADE and more.

You can watch Afro Nation: A Movement via YouTube below.

You can also watch Musa Keys break down his creative use of Beat FX and EQ, as well as share tips and tricks on mixing amapiano in this video as part of our DJ Mag Originals series, How I DJ, powered by Pioneer DJ.
