Munich record store Public Possession evicted by landlord after 10 years

The beloved record store and label Public Possession is being evicted by their landlord after 10 years in the Munich space. 

In a joint announcement with skate shop neighbours SooHotRightNow on 2nd March, the two businesses said, "With sadness we have to announce that after 10 amazing years our time at Klenzestrasse 16 will be over by the end of this March." 

Public Possession, which opened at that address in 2013, shared the reason for the forced move as: "Through a change of landlord, we are both being forced out of the building." They did not provide further details. 

"We want to express our gratitude to all those who have given us support over the past years," they continued. "We had FUN!"

Public Possession and SooHotRightNow teased a month of closing festivities to come, including "a series of activities specials and more, all to be announced soon!" They also hinted at the hopes of a future space with the closing thought, "All this is not the end, just a new beginning!"

Public Possession was founded in 2012 by Valentino Betz and Marvin Schuhmann. In 2013, they expanded as a record store and label in 2013 and became known for releasing music by Bell Towers, Samo DJ, Wolfram, Mr. Tophat, Lipelis, Aidan Ayers, Eden Burns and more, as well as sub-label Chill Pill's compilation series.
