Moby is selling almost 200 rare drum machines for charity

Moby is selling a selection of vintage and rare drum machines from his personal collection for charity.

In September the electronica legend announced that he was selling his entire record collection in aid of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Now, he is, for the same cause selling numerous drum machines used throughout his career including a Roland TR-909 that he bought in the early 1990s at Rogue Music in New York City and a 1970s MXR Drum Computer among many others.

He is also selling two incredibly rare Chamberlin Rhythmates and two Wurlitzer Side Man standing drum machines from the 1950s. Not only that, he has over 10 Univox drum machines made in the ‘70s that he is also parting ways with for the very noble cause.

“I’ve always been a little obsessed with drum machines,” Moby announced in an official press release. “In fact, I’ve always been a lot obsessed with drum machines. Over the years, I presumptuously believe that I have come up with the largest collection of analog drum machines in the world. There are hundreds of them and I loved each and every one of them. I hope that if you buy them, you love them as much as I did. Please take care of my babies.”

From 11th October, the equipment will be on sale via Moby’s Reverb Store.

Earlier this week, techno legend Nicole Moudaber released two killer remixes of Moby’s recent tracks 'Mere Anarchy' and 'Like A Motherless Child'.
