Massive Attack’s story is to be told in a new book, ‘Out Of The Comfort Zone’. 

The work is due to be published on 4th March by Tangent Books, and will feature interviews with names including Portishead, Smith & Mighty, Tricky and Roni Size. 

The author, Melissa Chemam, charts the development of the band alongside the wider Bristol music scene over a number of decades, tracing roots back to the 1960s and 70s before moving through the outfit's efforts to produce timeless albums such as 'Blue Lines' and 'Mezzanine'. 

They recently toured the latter following its special edition re-release with original 'Teardrop' singer Liz Fraser and a host of other collaborators after unveiling an app allowing fans to remix the record. Those who missed the shows can catch the outfit when they join Aphex Twin as headliners at Mexico's Ceremonia Festival on 6th April. 

In addition to the musical journey and evolution, the book will include sections on Massive Attack's numerous art projects, and the launch is set to involve a conversation between Chemam and journalist Miranda Sawyer at the British Library in London on 14th March. If you can't make that event take a look at what the author has to say about her work, the band and their role in safeguarding a counter-history of modern British and world politics on her blog.
