LISTEN TO STUART PATTERSON'S WICKED VINYL ONLY MIX

It's part of our new Wax On mix series that celebrates vinyl....

Love Vinyl boss and disco, funk and soul addict Stuart Patterson kicks off our new mix series, Wax On, this week, that's set to bring live, vinyl-only mixes from some of the globe's best selectors direct to your eardrums.

See Stuart spin tonight at the Red Market in Shoreditch as part of their Last Days of Shoreditch event series. The Red Market, that's open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday throughout the summer for street food, art, music, dancing, drinking and crazy golf, will also welcome Patterson's good pal Dave Jarvis to the decks, alongside a host of other DJs throughout the evening.

We caught up the DJ and record shop owner for a quick chat ahead of tonight's gig. Tickets to Love Vinyl at Last Days of Shoreditch at the Red Market tonight can be found here

Vinyl? Digital? Both? Who Cares?
"Both, ultimately it's about having the best music available and some are only on one format. Lugging hundreds of records around isn't fun, but I'd rather still play from the original vinyl than burn that to digital and play it."

What’s the most expensive record you own?
"I have no idea, have never looked at any of my records as a resale value but I'm sure some of my original press Underground Resistance, Fela Kuti, Moodymann might fetch a penny, but I've honestly never checked."

If you could only save three vinyl in a fire, what would you save?
"Galaxy 2 Galaxy 'Hi-Tech Jazz', Dinosaur L 'Go Bang', Meditations 'Babylon Trap Them'"

Best London record shop?
"Er... Love Vinyl, well I had to say that but London is bubbling again with good new shops popping up and the old faithfuls still going strong."

In your opinion, who is the best (living) DJ in the world?
"Tough one as I enjoy certain DJs more for radio (Michael Ruetten, Gilles Peterson, Ross Allen) while if I'm in a club, and depending on what mood I'm in, DJs as diverse as Mr Thing, Derrick Carter or DJ Spinna do it for me."
