Lagos creative community and skate crew WAFFLESNCREAM, launches t-shirt to raise funds for #EndSARS movement
100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Feminist Coalition, “an organization fighting against injustice through peaceful protests, fundraising, and social media organization”
Lagos skate crew/store, WAFFLESNCREAM, have unveiled a new t-shirt design in partnership with figures from the local creative community, with proceeds set to go toward supporting Nigeria's #EndSARS movement.
Peaceful demonstrations began in Nigeria earlier in October, with protestors calling for the dissolution of the the country’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad, known as SARS, which has a long-standing and notorious reputation for brutality, torture, corruption and other human rights violations.
Artists and DJs around the world have voiced their support for #EndSARS demonstrators after government forces shot at crowds during one protest last week. Artists including Nigerian Afrobeats stars Burna Boy and Wizkid, Lagos’ DJ Switch (pictured), Anz, Giant Swan, Flohio, Juba, KG, Anu, Dave and Skepta have vocalised their solidarity with the #EndSARS movement. Some have encouraged fans to donate to various fundraisers in aid of protestors, including The Feminist Coalition.
WAFFLESNCREAM’s DEFEND YOUTH TEE, which is illustrated by Deborah Segun, sees 10 members of Nigeria’s creative community coming together to raise funds for the #EndSARS movement: Figures inovlved include NM Bello Studio, Alara, Homecoming, The Lost Okoroshi, Seun Kuti, The Republic, Deborah Segun, Native, andDennis Osadebe. 100% of proceeds from the t-shirt will go toward The Feminist Coalition.
In their social media post announcing the t-shirt, WAFFLESNCREAM write: “SARS has become responsible for a lot of unrecorded death, unwarranted detention, and extortion. But the youth have had enough. We have decided to protest, and to bring an end to this monstrous unit that is killing us every day.”

Nigerian Diasporans Against Sars have set up a fundraiser in aid of protestors, with all being proceeds distributed between a number of "verified and vetted grassroots organizations”, such as LifeBank, Feminist Co and Kokun Foundation.
Julie Adenuga has also shared a radio special with further information and converstaion about the #EndSARS movement.
