Jean-Michel Jarre to play Château de Versailles Christmas event
The mixed-reality concert will mark 400 years of the UNESCO World Heritage Site
Jean-Michel Jarre will play at the Château de Versailles this Christmas.
The forthcoming live mixed-reality concert, named Versailles 400, has been created by the French artist and is presented in collaboration with UNESCO and The French Ministry of Culture. The event will be broadcast on Christmas Day 2023, marking 400 years of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Wearing a mixed reality headset, Jarre will perform the concert in front of a real audience in the Hall of Mirrors and virtually within the metaverse – with a virtual audience connected through VR, on tablets and smartphones.
The recorded performance will be broadcast on both French and international TV channels, aired on radio, streamed on YouTube, and presented in virtual reality on the French VRROOM platform.
Speaking on the news, Jean-Michel Jarre said: "Versailles 400 is a hybrid concert and visual creation broadcast live from one of the world's most beautiful locations, as well as in virtual reality in the metaverse. I hope the event will help promote our creative savoir-faire and bring the world of French immersive creation to the forefront of collective culture."
