The former Wham! singer passed away on Christmas Day...

George Michael died on Christmas Day (25th December), as confirmed by his publicist.

The former Wham! singer was found on Christmas morning, having died from heart failure. His longtime manager reportedly stated that Michael “passed away peacefully at home”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

His publicist later added, "It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.

“The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage."

Following the news, a barrage of artists paid respects to the pop star – who sold more than 100 million albums in his career – on social media.

They included his former Wham! bandmate, Andrew Ridgeley, Jackmaster, The Black Madonna, Gary Numan, Disclosure and Machinedrum, who all demonstrated the wider impact of Michael’s career in their posts.
