GAIKA has announced a new album, ‘Drift’, via Big Dada Recordings. Listen to the first single, ‘LADY’, featuring bbymutha below.

The collaborative single marks the South-London artist and writer’s first outing via Big Dada Recordings. Part of the Ninja Tune family, the British imprint describes itself as “a label run by Black, POC & Minority Ethnic people for Black, POC & Minority Ethnic artists.”

The single is the first from GAIKA’s forthcoming third LP, which is set for release later this year (8th September). Featuring high-speed vocals from American rapper, bbymutha, and combining elements of grime, dancehall, R&B, and electronic music, ‘Drift’ found its name via the late night communal art making process through which it was created.

Though GAIKA was the project’s primary writer and composer, he worked closely with New York-based sound designer KIDÄ on production, alongside a group of classically trained musicians, including Nigerian-born singer and Massive Attack collaborator, Azekel, UK jazz pianist, Charlie Stacey, and NTS resident, Brbko.

Last year, GAIKA collaborated with Spitfire Audio to create a signature sound library, titled ‘War Island’. Featuring the multidisciplinary artist’s signature sound design elements, the pack hosts 42 presets split into six sections of pads, basses, leads, atmospheres, drums, and vocals.

This summer, GAIKA will touch down in Barcelona for Sónar festival, alongside Aphex Twin, Little Simz, and Eric Prydz (with his HOLO show), before heading to Italy for Pic Nic Affair.
