DISCLOSURE REMIX FLUME'S 'NEVER BE LIKE YOU' AND FANS OF BOTH ARE PISSED
"This is not a remix, this is rape"...
On paper Disclosure remixing Australian man-of-the-moment Flume, and his track 'Never Be Like You', should be a homerun for everyone involved, right? Well, no. For some fans, Disclosure's remix – which was posted to Soundcloud today – is the worst thing to happen to them in 2016.
Disclosure's remix is quite literally flypaper for hatred and warped moral outrage on the track's comments at the moment – with one user, Blowndub, taking it way too far with: "This is not a remix, this is rape", and others, well, they're clearly still in a state of shock. "So confused Disclosure. Weak".
Soundcloud's comments usually consist of a few catergories, from the classic "First" and "Posted here" to the more usual Soundcloud fodder of "OMG" and "those feels <3". Rarely, then, do the comments crystalise into such wide-spread and universal hatred.
One user hits the nail on the head with: "I never seen a track be so polarising in the comments." So is it really that bad? Well, on first inspection it doesn't really hit the spot; the EDM-ish, detuned foghorn really doesn't work on any level – but it does get better, as Disclosure furnish the rest of the track with their trademark tubular basslines and melodies for something of an anti-climatic finish.
What do you think of Disclosure's remix? Let us know in the comment below.
Update: It would appear Future Classic has removed the track, and all the priceless comments with it, from Soundcloud – you can, however, still hear the track in question on Youtube, where the comments are bound to be just as colourful and cruel.
