The release of the EP follows the Malawian artists' contribution to Black Artist Database's debut compilation
CHMBA has released a new EP, ‘Okongola Caucus’. Check it out below.
The title of the Malawian DJ, producer and activist's latest five-track EP translates to mean “a gathering of beauty”, and is described as an "exploration of love in all its forms from romance to parental, desire and distance in love untangling, freedom and barriers to love overlapping."
Featuring guest contributions from vocalist NiGEL ('Okongola') and Malawian singer-songwriters Nyago ('Nitemwe') and Ms Fay ('Dzuma'), the EP encompasses elements of lush indie-dance, house and soul, with subtle flourishes of amapiano bass and South-East African percussion.
