The Chemical Brothers to be celebrated on 6 Music this weekend

Lauren Laverne and the electronic duo will talk meaningful music on Friday

BBC Radio 6 will broadcast a show celebrating 20 years since The Chemical Brothers' album, 'Surrender'.

Alongside the 20th anniversary deluxe re-issue of the album, the electronic duo will also celebrate 'Surrender' this coming weekend with Radio 6, starting with a two-hour long show hosted by Lauren Laverne.

On Friday 8th November, Lauren Laverne will speak to Tom and Ed of The Chemical Brothers, who pick tunes from the likes of Beastie Boys, Spirtualized, Derrick May and New Order, reflect on their own back catalogue, and share stories from both their live shows and the studio. DJ Nemone will also feature a special Chemical Brothers mix during her show from 11PM to 12AM, before the 6 Music Classic Concert on Saturday morning (9th, 2AM - 3AM) will feature highlights from the duo's set from Glastonbury 2000.

Among other shows across the weekend, Sunday will see The Chemical Brothers pick their own hour long playlists in place of Tom Rowland’s Playlist, aired at 1AM, and Ed Simon’s Playlist at 2AM. Listeners can expect to hear music from the likes of Underground Resistance, Skee Mask, Brittany Howard and Shasta Cuts.

Speaking about her Friday night show with the duo, Laverne said: “It’s great to be celebrating this classic album on 6 Music. The Chemical Brothers have been such an influence on the music scene, so it’s been a lot of fun catching up with them to hear their influences and great stories, and sharing some of their favourite tracks with our listeners.”

Jay-Z, The Chemical Brothers, who were headliners at Glastonbury 2019, Dolly Parton and Jarvis Cocker are among the artists contributing to a 50th anniversary Glastonbury book, with the cover art designed by Radiohead collaborator Stanley Donwood.

Earlier this year, the duo also shared behind the scenes footage revealing how the video to their track 'We've Got To Try' was made.
