Boiler Room & Ballantine's announce 2019 True Music tour

Taking A Stand For True Music in Russia, Poland, Spain and South Africa...

Boiler Room & Ballantine's have announced details of the 2019 True Music Tour. The flagship music program will land in Russia, Poland, Spain and South Africa during the course of the year. The evolved True Music project shifts focus onto grassroots individuals and organisations at the heart of electronic music culture.

On each leg of the tour, Boiler Room & Ballantine's will identify challenges on the ground and leave support systems in place through financial, grassroots or mentoring initiatives.

The shift in focus comes at a time when scenes across the world are being threatened by increased regulatory control and venue closures.

Ballantine's Head of Music, Tom Elton, believes that supporting grassroots music scenes at a grassroots level is a vital step in redressing the balance. "For more than four years we have celebrated and showcased amazing artists from all over the world," he tells us. "Now is the time to take it a step further and work alongside these communities to give real support where it’s needed.”

On each leg of the True Music Tour, Boiler Room & Ballantine's will bring together diverse contributing voices for research and conversation - a process that will be documented in a series of films.

The first edition tackles the current climate in Russia through conversations with Natasha Abelle, founder of Arma17; Sergey Golikov, whose venue Rabitza was shut down by authorities in 2017; bass producer A-Fruit; Gosha Rubchinskiy’s soundtrack creator, techno producer Buttechno; and more.

Each leg of the tour will culminate with a live show featuring artists who have contributed to the scene, both national and international.

The first show in Moscow on 28th February features experimental producer Shadowax, Buttechno, Arma 17's Abelle and techno stalwarts Karenn, who make their Russia debut. The party will also feature a performance from Parisian DJ and producer Bambounou. You'll be able to watch all of the sets live on the DJ Mag Facebook page.
