Björk contributes vocals to AI generated score for New York hotel lobby
17 years of the Icelandic artist's vocal recordings have been drawn upon for the piece
Björk has produced an AI-assisted choral piece to be played in the lobby of New York City hotel Sister City.
Titled 'Kórsafan', the piece uses Microsoft AI to put together sounds pulled from 17 years worth of choral recordings made by Björk herself. It follows on from a similar installation at the hotel by Julianna Barwick last year.
"An architectural structure in downtown Manhattan offered me the hand in an AI tango, and I accepted the call," the Icelandic artist said of 'Kórsafan'. "I am alert with curiosity waiting the results. I offered them my choir archives, written over 17 years, that will float through the pinball of artificial intelligence by the grid of bird migrations, clouds, aeroplanes and that voluptuous thing called barometer!"

In September last year, Björk released a VR version of her 2015 LP, 'Vulnicura'.
She also remixed Fever Ray last year for a special EP release, which included a remix by Fever Ray of Björk too.
