Beatport launches Beats in School 2018 season with mau5trap, Dirtybird, more

Hospital, Second State, Roland and Moog are also signed up...

Beatport has launched the next edition of its Beats In School initiative, with mau5trap, Dirtybird, Hospital and Second State all involved.

The year-long programme aims to uncover new and unsigned talent, mentoring tomorrow's stars and providing them with the tools, knowledge and expertise needed to successfully forge a career in the music industry.

The four labels signed up for this year will deliver direct A&R to four competition winners via ambassadors from the imprints. To enter, budding producers need to submit an original track online, fitting to the sound of the label they would like to be mentored by. The competition closes on 7th December.

The prestigious Berklee School of Music and Point Blank Music School, which is about to open a brand new site in China, will also be providing tailored courses and one-on-one tutorials. Once graduated, alumni in 2019 will receive a Beats In School package including kit from ADAM Audio, Focusrite, Moog, Novation, Roland, V-Moda and WAVES Audio.

In other Beatport news, the online music giant is expected to make its entire catalogue available to stream direct to DJ software next year.
