AAJA Deptford announces one-day festival, Creekside, to celebrate fifth anniversary
The Southeast London community radio station, label and events space hosts a hyperlocal slew of crews like Black Obsidian Sound System, Wolf Music and Rat Face Records this September
Southeast London community radio station, label and events space AAJA is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a new one-day festival.
The first edition of Creekside will take place on Saturday, 2nd September across several Deptford venues, including AAJA's own Snake Pit and new Basement. Other confirmed venues include Buster Mantis, Isla Ray, Villages, Stockton, Little Faith, Endeavour, Artworks Courtyard and The Birds Nest.
AAJA has invited a host of hyperlocal crews and collectives to showcase Southeast London talent, with Black Obsidian Sound System, Local Action, Threads Radio, Cheeky Soundsystem, Dancing Family, Shakedown, Wolf Music, Simply Sensational, No Boundaries, Sass & Vibes, Rat Face Records and more set to play the event. The complete line-up with individual artists, headliners and acts is still TBA.
"We want to celebrate five years in the game with AAJA, and what better way to mark the occasion than championing all of the hyperlocal Deptford spaces, businesses and community members which have gotten us to where AAJA is today", cofounders Samuel Willott and Owen Howells said. "Creekside will not only celebrate, but also highlight Deptford’s unique and often endangered cultural spaces. The festival will be an intimate, multi-venue, day to night, electronic music festival, with an emphasis on being affordable for all." (First release tickets, which are now sold out, went for £15.)
