Premiere: Taped Over Memory ‘Transfer A’

100% Silk celebrates its 10th birthday with an 11-track compilation of bright and breezy house music. Hear the nostalgic melodies and lo-fi groove of Taped Over Memory’s ‘Transfer A’

100% Silk is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month with a new compilation, ‘2nd Life Silk’.

The beloved Los Angeles DIY label, who released early works from now globally celebrated artists like Octo Octa and Fort Romeau, remains true to its policy of championing the new across this comp’s 11 tracks. Looking forward rather than back, each artist (or alias) on this release is new to the label. The resulting collection is one of bright and breezy house music, capturing the penchant for dusty bliss and hypnotic grooves.

Each cut is a gem in its own right, from the soft, balearic-influenced melodies that permeate the tracklist to the lo-fi analog beats. Opener, ‘Transfer A’, by Taped Over Memory sets the comp up beautifully. An archival cut from 1997, it’s the only non-contemporary track on the release, but it fits the vibe perfectly with its nostalgic strings and dusty groove. As 100% Silk explains, the track is “a shout out to the DIY dance music lineage we feel part of”. Check it out below.

‘2nd Life Silk’ will be released on 25th June. You can pre-order it here.
