Premiere: Passarella Death Squad ‘In Heaven (Violet Remix)’

Passarella Death Squad return to their parent label with the spectral, Chris & Cosey-invoking ‘In Heaven’. Naive label boss and DJ extraordinaire Violet steps up with a breaks-led and sprawling club remix...

Passarella Death Squad, the London electronic outfit whose collective is also celebrated for its clothing design and fine art works, will release their new single ‘In Heaven’ on the 7th December.

The single itself is a heady, dark, minimal-wave cut that invokes the likes of Chris & Coesy and Fever Ray with a suitably haunting, obsidian sheen. With pounding, ominous drums guiding the track down its shadowy, atmospheric path, the vocal work is an eerie, absorbing lullaby that lingers long after it’s gone.

The single comes paired with two formidable club mixes from Naive label founder and DJ extraordinaire Violet, and Berghain resident Norman Nodge. Both reworks bring the track deeper into a club environment, brimming with swerving breaks and rolling bass grooves.

Violet’s remix is loose and energised, and a perfect encapsulation of the track’s dancefloor potential as well as a testament to Violet’s superb technique. Having risen to new heights this year with a massive touring schedule taking her to Panorama Bar, smartbar, Tresor and beyond, the Portuguese DJ’s star has rightfully risen in the past 12 months. Not only that, but with her label Naive, she has given tracks by the likes of Octo Octa and Eris Drew a terrific platform. What the label goes on to achieve next year is an exciting prospect.
