Maggie Tra rounds out a killer year of releases on her SYS Sister Sounds imprint with a lobe-tickling techno cut dedicated to the dancefloor
Maggie Tra will release her latest single, ‘Don’t Go’, later this month. Have an exclusive first listen below.
The Australia-born Khmer/Viet DJ and producer chases her ‘Very Vui’ LP, unveiled in August, and singles including ‘Apsara’ and ‘Yummy Lion Dancer’, with a lobe-tickling techno cut dedicated to the dancefloor. Out 18th December via Tra’s own SYS Sister Sounds (SSS), ‘Don’t Go’ traces the emotional spectrum of the club experience from euphoria and escapism, to sadness and melancholy through chunky big-room beats and tantalising sound design.
“I wanted to make something that connected me further with the people around me, from dance-floor lovers, venue owners and friends,” Tra shared on the single. “It’s a love letter to them, thanking them for being on this journey with me so far.”
The track rounds out a killer year of releases on SYS Sister Sounds – the Hanoi-based label and collective working to empower Asian women and non-binary producers – including October’s V/A charity compilation, ‘Grounded’, featuring contributions from Cloudy Ku, Leviathe, and more, and Runa Mont’s experimental ‘Eternal Portal’ EP.
