Introspekt debuts on Eris Drew and Octo Octa’s T4T LUV NRG this week with the ‘Temptation’ EP. Listen to ‘Deep Inside’ below.
For the label’s second release of 2023, the prolific Los Angeles artist – who made her UK debut at Eris Drew’s Temple Of Dreams party at London’s Corsica Studios in April – serves up four cuts of pristinely swung contemporary UKG.
‘Deep Inside’ borrows the now-famous vocal sample (sung by Ms. Barbara Tucker) from Hardrive’s 1993 Strictly Rhythm classic of the same name and pairs it with a Korg M1 organ stab. ‘Walk & Serve (Dream Mix)’ is, as the name suggests, a dreamier, shuffling garage-house cut. On the flip, ‘Make Me Feel’ marries similar sonics with heavily swung 2-step drums for a seemingly endless groove.
‘Temptation (I Need U)’ rounds out the release with the darker and dubbier sound of Introspekt’s previous releases on Bristol’s Time Is Now and ec2a, complete with a warping bassline destined to do damage in the club.
