UK-based independent label Organic Analogue Records launches a new 12” series this month with a split EP from Tbilisi, Georgia’s HVL and Gacha Bakradze. Listen to the latter’s track, ‘Chain’ below.

Since launching in 2013, OA has become a home for a choice selection of dancefloor-focused electronic music with a deep, exploratory sensibility. It’s a vibe carried through on this new six-track release, with Bassiani resident HVL and Left Bank club co-owner Bakradze serving up three tracks each, taking in bass-charged techno, blissed-out breaks and glitching Autechrims.

HVL has brought this to the imprint twice before, in the cavernous acid and dub techno of his 2015 EP ‘Away From Everything We Know’ and his 2018 album ‘Ostati’. Making his debut for the label, Bakradze, whose recent ‘Pancakes’ album on Lapsus Records is exquisite, embellishes snapping, electro-singed beats with celestial melodies and choral chimes, propelled by warping gusts of sub-bass.

‘Chain’ moves with a skeletal garage-esque step, with echoes of classic hardcore lingering in its DNA. Soft focus keys ring in a similar emotional register to of SOPHIE’s ‘It’s Okay To Cry’, making for a subtle put perfectly potent tears-in-the-club moment.

HVL & Gacha Bakradze’s ‘SPLITS’ will be released on vinyl in late June, early July. Pre-order it on Juno, or buy it digitally, here.
