DJ Autopay, aka Russell E.L. Butler, will release a new EP, ‘Bumpers’, via T4T LUV NRG next month. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘More Femme, More Masc’ below.

The Brooklyn-based Bermudian producer and DJ follows a string of self-released EPs on Bandcamp and a 2020's 'Blah Blah' on Mister Saturday night with a four-track suite of emotionally-charged house heaters on Eris Drew and Octo Octa’s trailblazing label. Like the fairground ride of the same name, these tracks embrace nostalgia with outstretched arms; waltzing and colliding sounds with one another while never drifting too far off course.

On queer non-binary anthem, ‘More Femme, More Masc’, Butler's lyrics link up with melancholic chords from Tracy Chapman’s ‘Fast Car’ and staccato rhythms à la Nice & Smooth’s ‘Sometimes I Rhyme Slow’.

A trio of instrumental house cuts ensue as the previously Bay Area-based producer continues to nurture their experimental tendencies. ‘Trope 1’ pulls from a percussive quiver, with ticking hi-hats and warm, purring subs, while Tropes ‘2’ and ‘3’ dip the homegrown grooves of American house music’s golden age in a contemporary, metallic glaze.

‘Bumper’ is the latest in a string of future-facing releases on the New Hampshire-based T4T LUV NRG. Besides the output of label co-founders Eris Drew and Octo Octa, recent releases include Introspekt’s ‘Temptation’ EP and Gynoid74’s ‘Shroom’.

‘Bumpers’ is out via T4T LUV NRG on 6th October. Listen to ‘More Femme, More Masc’ below.
