Premiere: BELLA ‘Orchestra Spring’

BELLA will release her debut EP, ‘Note to Self’, later this week via Big Saldo’s Chunkers. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Orchestra Spring’ below.

After meeting at a festival in Amsterdam in the summer of 2022, emerging Dutch aritst BELLA and Berlin-based Irish DJ/producer Sally C clicked so much that they went on to play an impromptu b2b later that day. Now, BELLA is releasing her debut EP via the latter’s Big Saldo’s Chunkers – a three-track suite of pumping ‘90s-style house with flourishes of acid, electro and prog.

After laying down the title track, which combines pummelling old-skool drums and fiery synths with a breakneck grime-style vocal, BELLA describes how the rest of the EP came together effortlessly around it. “This set the vibe and guided me through the creative process. I was really trying to make something that felt my own, that was also unique and not something I’ve heard before,” she shared.

‘Orchestra Spring’ is an equally head-turning affair, infusing its groovy house foundations with lashings of attitude and retro sampling, whilst ‘Odd Symphony’ completes the set in a haze of warm chords, gurgling acid lines, and punchy drums.

“I'm over the moon to be releasing this EP on Sally’s label,” BELLA continued. “It’s really special to have someone who I look up to release my music. She has given me tremendous support and guidance over the last two years, always ready to chat or give me some advice... It’s super sweet to share this journey with her.”

‘Note to Self’ is the latest in a carefully curated run of releases on Chunkers, including Sally’s acclaimed first instalment, ‘Big Saldo’s Chunkers EP 001’, featuring the massive ‘Let’s Get This’, and the four-track successor with profits donated to humanitarian causes in Ukraine.
