BÉBE YANA is releasing a new remix package, ‘THE RMXS: VOL .1’, later this week. Have an exclusive first listen to Florentino’s remix of ‘64’ below.
Landing on Friday via A MASS CULTURE, the project features reworks of the Australian-South Korean singer-songwriter’s 2023 singles, ’64’ and ‘CHEMISTRY’, by five boundary-pushing producers. A former member of the girl group EvoL, before going solo in 2017, BÉBE YANA has carved out her lane as one of Seoul’s most innovative K-pop stars. ‘THE RMXS: VOL .1’ emulates this dynamic approach to songwriting, incorporating styles of R&B, ambient, funky bass, breaks, and hyper-pop, into BÉBE’s glossy original mixes.
British-Colombian producer and DJ Florentino flips ‘64’ into a deep psychedelic mover, powered by his trademark speaker-rattling low end, crisp textures and subtle melodic flourishes. Other remixers include Seoul-based duo Salamanda, who amplify the track’s ambient undertones, alongside ROMderful and Margo XS, who serve up genre-hopping revamps of ‘CHEMISTRY’.
Last year, Florentino dropped his latest EP, ‘Kilometro Quinze’, via XL Recordings, featuring collaborative cuts with Shygirl, DJ Python, BAMBII and more. He kicked off 2024 with a rave-ready remix of BODUR and Denzel Himself’s ‘DON'T BEAT THE SWEET OUT OF MY BOY’, followed by a mega mix of ‘Suave’ from Coffintexts and Gabi G, on Club Romantico.
