SPHERE is the new club concept set to ignite London's nightlife scene

DJ Mag team up with Relentless Energy and LWE to bring you an exclusive live stream from SPHERE, the launch party on Saturday 15th February

A dark, cavernous room inside a purpose-designed space built with the sole intention of hosting statement events. Thunderous speaker rigs thumping out next level sounds thanks to some of the most forward-thinking players on the scene today. And, perhaps most captivating of all, a 360-degree lighting installation spread across a staggering 10,000 square feet of dancefloor.  This is SPHERE, a new club concept set to ignite London's nightlife scene.

If one thing is for sure, Magazine — the London venue we broke the news of opening back in 2018 — means serious business with its new flagship series. Designed to bring something new and exciting to the UK capital, the SPHERE concept comprises five events with a slew of top-drawer names and never-before-seen production.

DJ Mag has teamed up with our friends at Relentless Energy and London Warehouse Events (LWE) to bring you live sets from the inaugural edition of SPHERE. You can catch the key sets this Saturday 15th February via our YouTube channel and Facebook Page.

With lighting creating different depths in various parts of the dancefloor, this blank, black-walled canvas will be transformed into a space fit for science fiction thanks to the use of Tesla-coil style rigs.

The SPHERE launch party is set up to be a perfect environment to experience a hand-picked line-up of contemporary greats curated to ensure an afternoon, evening and night of tough, sharp beats. All presented in exquisite detail via a powerful, bespoke L-Acoustics Soundsystem.

Leading the charge is none other than Knee Deep In Sound chief Hot Since 82. A product of the notoriously wild Leeds club scene, the tech house sheller has enjoyed a particularly slamming few years. Drafting in Magdalena for that remix of ‘Therapy’ is just one case in point, with the original track — calling on the talents of Alex Mills — an out and out summer anthem for 2019. As anyone who spent any time in Ibiza last season will know only too well.

Eats Everything – a man whose appetite for filthy, pumping, acid-tinged juggernauts knows no bounds – shares top billing. Those joint releases with Detroit techno deviant Green Velvet indicative of where his status is right now.

Then there’s Maya Jane Coles, here on Special Guest invitation. Her meteoric rise to fame in the first half of the last decade has led her to become an A-list mainstay — flawless mixing skills only matched by her perfect track selections. Fidgety, heavy garage tones, warm rolling fours and tougher, heads down permeations direct from the UK underground’s most cutting edges.

Sweden’s La Fleur, the head honcho of excellent Berlin-based imprint Power Plant Records, is another perfect SPHERE booking. Expect chuggers abound once she’s in charge of proceedings. All of which just leaves rapidly rising homegrown one-to-watch EFFY, whose deep wormholes bring plenty of cosmic detail to sets underpinned by heavyweight kicks. More than adept at warming up floors in the UK capital and beyond, in 2020 this exciting emergent is pipped to reach even heights higher than the lasers inside Magazine.

SPHERE should represent a blueprint for next-gen parties, where visual effects share headline duties with the artists involved. A dancing destination focused on letting the crowd find their own sweet spot, bringing diverse people together through diverse sounds. A place where 3,000 people can have 3,000 individual experiences and still feel as one. With all this in mind we’re predicting an atmoSPHERE as warm as the rhythms that will make up what’s sure to be a truly unique soundtrack for the duration.

It’s an evolutionary step for the LWE crew, who have already proved themselves to be among the finest event teams in the British scene through a storied history involving celebrated addresses like London's Tobacco Dock and Fountain studios.

This latest undertaking brings the phrase ‘starting as you mean to go on’ to mind, with the beginning of 2020 set to be defined by six of the most memorable weeks ever for the promoters. Let the good times roll, then.
