BONA2018 | Breakthrough Producer: Moon Boots

This Brooklyn-based producer and DJ has been floating around the electronic atmosphere for some time, dropping fresh remixes and garnering attention from major labels like Anjunadeep. However, when Moon Boots aka Pete Dougherty unleashed his debut album in 2017, he made a major touchdown in uncharted territory. ‘First Landing’ might seem like one small step for house music, but this smooth release is one giant step for Moon Boots. The 10-track LP’s deep, soulful and celestial vibes are a byproduct of Dougherty’s fearless approach to production, while vocal performances like those of Lulu James in ‘Tear My Heart’ and Black Gatsby in ‘Power’ further demonstrate his growing knack for curation. “Even though I've been producing for a while now, my first album is less than a year old and I feel like my music is still finding its way in the world and reaching new people," Moon Boots tells DJ Mag. "It's inspiring, and it feels nice to be recognized for doing what I love most." Dougherty is no stranger to life on the road, and 2018 has unveiled an important mission for Moon Boots - a live headlining tour. He’ll be making stops across the US, including his second home in Chicago where he’ll present the new digs at React Presents’ Mamby on the Beach festival.
