Watch Boiler Room X Ballantine's True Music: Hybrid Sounds, live from Sao Paulo

Catch sets from rRoxymore and Derrick Carter, live on DJ Mag's Facebook page...

This week sees the third stop on the epic three-continent True Music: Hybrid Sounds tour.

The concept - a partnership between Boiler Room & Ballantine's – pairs some of the electronic music scene’s most original live acts with their more traditional, instrumental counterparts in some of the most musically and culturally diverse cities in the world, uncovering what happens when two distinct genres collide.

At this week's show, taking place on Wednesday 23rd May in Sao Paulo (broadcast in the early hours of 24th May for European viewers), Berlin-based producer rRoxymore will perform on the line up with Brazilian electro group Teto Preto.

Known for her ability to oscillate between classic house and psychedelia-tinged techno, rRoxymore makes a perfect choice for a concept that challenges artists to work outside their comfort zones. The French artist thrives on the edge≥.

Formed during the jam sessions of the female-run underground party, Mamba Negra, Teto Preto is an act that mixes tribal drums and heavy synths with horn players, dancers, performers and vocalists.

Joining rRoxymore and Teto Preto in the line-up is the hugely influential Brazilian songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist Tom Zé, whose contribution to the 1960s Tropicalia movement has made him one of the most sampled artists in Brazil today.

Other performances come from singer, songwriter and LGBTQ+ activist MC Linn and finally, Chicago house legend Derrick Carter, who’ll be headlining the show.

You can watch the whole broadcast live on the DJ Mag Facebook page from 00:45 BST on Thursday 24th May.
