Q&A: MILLER SOUNDCLASH FINALIST RAMA

Over the next few weeks we’ll be profiling the Miller SoundClash finalists; getting to know the DJs who will be flying to Las Vegas to compete for a chance to play alongside Dannic at Drais! Today we are speaking with Argentina’s entry. DJ RAMA.

Hi RAMA, please introduce yourself to the DJ Mag readers.
“I’m DJ RAMA and I’m From Buenos Aires, Argentina”

Where did your love of music first come from?
“From hip hop culture.”

How long have you been DJing?
“I have been DJing for 15 Years and I also produce my own music.”

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
“Topping line ups with electronic music legends, such as Diplo, Above and Beyond and LCD Soundsystem.”

So are you quite established in your local scene?
“Yes, I’m one of the best DJs in Buenos Aires’s as I have a lot of experience, however I’m low profile.”

How does it feel to win your local Miller SoundClash competition? Tell us about your experience in the competition so far.
“Lots of people came to see me compete in the competition and gave me amazing support. Miller SoundClash is just an awesome experience. It is one of the best things that ever happened to me, and this is just the beginning!”

How much does it mean to you to have made it to this stage of Miller SoundClash?
“It means a lot because is a chance that I’ve been waiting for to finally show the world who I am. I’m also sure that I will be able to meet many interesting people from the scene of electronic music globally.”

How do you plan to stand out over the other DJs in Las Vegas? How will you be preparing for the finale?
“I’m preparing a very remarkable dance set, to make people crazy. They’ll be amazed by the surprises I’m planning.”

What makes you unique compared to the other international finalists?
“Oh that’s a secret that you will have to discover! But I can tell you originality, my own sound, and being in all details of every set.”

Las Vegas is the EDM capital of the USA, with major DJs playing every weekend. If you could meet and hang out with one of these DJs in Vegas, who would it be and why?
“Diplo - he has an incredible knowledge of music. I am also a big fan of A-Trak - he has an amazing technique and I really like his label.”

How important is it for competitions like Miller SoundClash to give aspiring DJs the chance to show their talent to the world?
“It’s an incredibly important opportunity; a real once-in-a-lifetime chance.”

Tell us a bit about your home country - how is the electronic music scene where you are from?
“Argentina is the most important country in South America for electronic music. The world’s best DJs come to Buenos Aires and the city has a very important underground scene too.”
