Premiere: Kevin McKay ‘Propaganda’

Kevin McKay has been producing house music since 1994, and has had a significant influence on every area of the genre he has touched on since. As head honcho at pioneering label Glasgow Underground – which celebrated its 20th birthday last year – and the producer of dozens upon dozens of classic cuts as well as Mylo’s platinum selling 2004 album ‘Destroy Rock & Roll’, the Scottish artist has been working tirelessly for years.

It isn’t exactly a surprise then to hear that it is only now that McKay is set to release his debut solo album ‘The Love Forever’. The 12-track album is set for release on Glasgow Underground on 25th May and if ‘Propaganda’ – premiering below – is anything to go by, this collection will be well worth the wait.

A triumphant dancefloor electrifier powered by a low arpeggiated synth and a weighty beat, ‘Propaganda’ is the sort of track that has the entire population of the club’s hands in the air.

Speaking of the album, McKay said, “Last year I got to a place where I felt that I'd developed enough to take on an album and ‘The Love Forever’ is the result”

“The title is not about romantic love but about my love affair with dance music. No matter what has happened in my life, music has always pulled me through and ‘The Love Forever’ is about the kind of dance music I love. It moves from disco to techno to deep, melodic house music and hopefully does it in a way that works just as well at a rave as it does in your living room or by the pool.”
