Martin Garrix: “I love the current state of music”

“A good song has way more chance to grow quickly”...

Martin Garrix has revealed that he loves the current state of music in a new interview.

Speaking about streaming services and social media, Garrix explained that power has been given back to artists.

“I love the current state of music,” Garrix said. “With streaming it’s very crazy. It's so much more accessible.

“A good song has way more chance to grow very quickly, instead of the traditional way where you have to sign to a big label, get the big label to push behind it. No.

“If you have a sick song you can have a small label, or even upload it yourself to Spotify and with the right promo from Spotify... it's crazy! It allows me to release more music, in different styles and experiment.”

Earlier this month (March), it was announced that Martin Garrix and Carl Cox’s documentary ‘What We Started’ will get a worldwide release from March 23rd.

Garrix was revealed as the winner of the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll 2017 last October, with the 21-year-old Dutch superstar retaining his title after becoming the youngest ever No.1 DJ in 2016.
